Migration Summit Releases Employers' Guide for Inclusive Hiring

Published on February 4, 2025

The Migration Summit – launched in 2022 by MIT Emerging Talent,  Na’amal, and Karam Foundation – is a global convening dedicated to addressing the challenges and opportunities faced by refugee, migrant, and displaced communities. Over its three editions, the Summit has rapidly evolved from its original aim of bridging the gap between diverse stakeholders and fostering meaningful dialogue to driving actionable outcomes.

With an increasingly diverse workforce, we now are at a pivotal moment where we must welcome migrant and refugee talent in order to foster innovation and resilience within our organizations, communities, and the global economy. The 2024 Migration Summit highlighted these opportunities and focused on building collaborative spaces for employers, policymakers, and refugee leaders to co-create effective strategies for inclusive hiring.

As a learning community, we are responsible for sharing and expanding this body of knowledge and making it broadly accessible and valuable. This means helping cultivate environments that support migrant employees, allowing them to flourish and share their distinct skills. This Employers’ Guide is designed to support hiring managers and talent leaders in each step of this journey, from the strategic planning stage to implementation. It includes critical insights and examples from the Migration Summit, emphasizing accessibility, empowerment, and authentic community building as we pursue sustainable and dignified employment opportunities for displaced individuals. Together, let’s take bold steps toward a more inclusive workforce that recognizes and celebrates the potential of all. We invite you to consult this guide and share your feedback and experiences with us as you use it.
