MIT faculty: Submit your grant proposal for education innovation in pK-12 and workforce learning

J-WEL has opened its call for proposals for grants in education innovation for pK-12 and workforce learning. Information about a call for proposals for education innovation grants at the higher education level will be available later this year.

pK-12 Education Innovation Grants
This year, the pK-12 Education Innovation Grant call for proposals is seeking innovative projects and research addressing:

• Solutions to challenges due to or exacerbated as a result of the COVID pandemic.
• Innovative strategies and programs, including online and blended, for building teacher credentials. The target population may include educators who teach in non-traditional settings, outside the classroom, and at scale.
• Vocational and technical education addressing the future of work.
• New or existing pilot programs that benefit populations in need. We are particularly interested in ways to accelerate the learning process for students who have limited access to education.

Workforce Learning Education Innovation Grants

Examples of research that we will consider include:

• Research on trends in skill demand, or other inputs to inform understanding of current and future skill gaps
• Research-based inputs to guide career advice and/or navigation, which includes helping individuals understand jobs that fit into their existing background and what skills they would need to qualify for those jobs
• Innovative approaches to delivering and assessing skills training for adults
• Research that helps organizations to identify who is most likely to participate in and benefit from training opportunities
• Methods and/or experiments to help workers shift from unemployment or low-paid occupations into more rewarding ones
• Literature reviews and landscape reports for key workforce learning topics
• Events and workshops directly related to the strategic priorities mission of JWEL workforce learning
