Tecnológico de Monterrey Joins the Jameel World Education Lab Member Network

The MIT Jameel World Education Lab (J-WEL) is proud to welcome Tecnológico de Monterrey (Tec) to its membership network, joining a prestigious group of educational institutions dedicated to transforming education.
The Tec is a Mexican university system serving more than 96,000 students and 11,000 faculty across its high school, undergraduate, and graduate programs. It is the top private university in Mexico according to the 2024 QS World University Rankings. The Tec is transforming its educational model with the TEC21 Model, which enables students to learn through experienced-based challenges outside the classroom.
J-WEL and the Tec will work together to build knowledge networks and strategies for educational innovation, focused in particular on topics related to educational entrepreneurship, AI, skills training, and educational technology transfer strategies.
"As educational innovation researchers, we are very excited about this integration as we strongly believe that collaboration is the spark that ignites collective potential. Working together with the greater J-WEL network, we will be co-participants in building a future full of innovation, equity and infinite possibilities," said Maria Soledad Ramírez-Montoya, research professor at the Institute for the Future of Education at the Tecnológico de Monterrey.
Part of MIT Open Learning, J-WEL was founded in 2017 to open the doors of MIT to innovators everywhere seeking to harness the power of educational institutions to improve society. As MIT’s collaboration hub to explore ideas and insights drawn from across the campus and the world, J-WEL curates ideas, develops customized workshops to address member needs, co-designs innovation projects, and builds global linkages with like-minded educators. All work supports the mission of education designed for everyone to thrive.
“We are proud to welcome Tecnológico de Monterrey to the J-WEL member network,” said Julia Reynolds-Cuéllar, associate director for membership at J-WEL. “The Tec’s commitment to innovative teaching models and groundbreaking research brings a unique set of expertise to our community. We look forward to collaborating on projects and research related to educational entrepreneurship and AI.”
